Faith Simiyu (Wales) – FaithSimiyu@gmail.com Faith is a Commonwealth Scholar from Kenya, currently completing a PhD Law at Cardiff University. She previously completed an LLM Commercial Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands and a Bachelors of Law and a Bachelors of Education respectively at the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University. Faith is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a co-founder and Partner in the firm of Simiyu, Opondo, Kiranga and Company Advocates where she has offered legal advice in litigation and consultancies. She also previously served as the Chairperson and Lecturer of the Private Law Department at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology where she was part of the team that pioneered, spearheaded and subsequently launched the JKUAT Law Journal, the JKUAT Law Student Newsletter and JKUAT Law student Annual Mentorship Forum. In her spare time she likes photography, swimming and playing guitar. She is also a budding inspirational speaker and creates weekly inspirational videos during her spare time. Monira Begum (Northern Ireland) – firstname.lastname@example.org Monira is a Commonwealth Scholar from Bangladesh, currently completing a PhD Molecular Biology at Queens University, Belfast. She previously completed a BSc and MSc Soil, Water & Environment from the University of Dhaka. She is a Lecturer in the department of Soil and Environmental Science at the University of Dhaka. Monira previously worked as a Lecturer in the department of Soil and Environmental Science at the University of Barisal and as a Research Associate in the Bangladesh-Australia Centre for Environmental Research. Her main research interest is related to soil arsenic contamination and its transfer into the food chain and she is also interested in heavy metal contamination of environment and their bioaccumulation in the soil-plant system. Monira has published nine research articles in a number of journals. In her PhD she is looking for specific genes of fungi and bacteria that might be responsible for the arsenic transformation and its methylation in rice plant and soil.
